Silverton,CO

Really nice views on highway 550 from Durango to Silverton where you go over passes just about 11,000 ft elevation.

The town of Silverton sits about 9300 elevation and has an old steam train that brings passengers on a round trip from Durango (elevation 6500 ft) through the mountains to Silverton daily

Not many up for church here?

Canyonlands National Park,UT

Mesa Arch, yes I am walking on top to take a picture. Someone yells, "don't look down".. Why do they yell such things?

That's right, I just climbed this rock. I'm not even sweating..

Arches and Canyonlands NP,UT

This post is a little out of order, I forgot to post Arches and Canyonlands before I posted Colorado.
Mesa Arch in Canyonlands. Thats a large drop into the canyon behind Deb through the arch, she is such a daredevil...

Arches NP is a fun day, you can drive to most sites with some short hikes to see the arches

Pine Tree arch. Named I assume because there a pine tree near it.

Balancing Rock. The rock is huge when you get up to it. Not much keeping it up there as it sits on a cracked layer of material.

"Delicate Arch" This is the one you see on Utah's license plates.. Who ever see's a Utah plate other than in Utah?

Mesa Verde National, Park,CO

I just couldn't imagine living on the sides of canyon walls but seeing how they were built was kinda cool.. OK, maybe the first one..

This was similar to the park that we visited last year in Manitou Springs,CO. Seen one Indian alcove village you seen 'em all. ;-)

For your viewing pleasure, find Waldo?

Four Corners, USA

Four Corners,USA
I can't say it was worth the 45 minute drive from Cortez,CO. We pull in to see the "Four Corners National Monument" and were greeted with a ticket booth run by the local Indian tribe. $3.00 a piece to go see your monument that your tax dollars paid for... Haha we keep the money...
Anyway, its not much more than this with some concrete and state flags, but totally surrounding this monument and you don't know until you are in there (and paid) are booths selling Indian jewelry and crap. Its basically surrounded by a flea market.
Oh well, they all can't be winners...

Moab,UT

I am thinking they must have opened this BBQ place just for me. Blues and pig, my favorite combination! They have excellent BBQ and even have sweet tea. We haven't seen any of that in Utah or really any good food until now.

We have seen some crazy rigs along the way, just about anything that gets people out on the road. Including this sweet plywood RV. Wonder if they are planning on staining it or vinyl siding ;-)

Rte 128 from Moab runs along the Colorado River and winds along the canyon walls. Really a scenic road.

Colorado River is over its banks with frigid snow melt water. Can you see the guy jumping off the bridge?

On his way down....

What a way to cool off!

Bryce National Park,UT

A "hoodoo" has a protective layer of material on top that keeps it from dissolving quicker. Once the top is gone it becomes a column

Red Canyon, UT

Just a little climbing today to an altitude of just under 8000 feet.

Entering Red Canyon the landscape changes dramatically.

13'6" clearance.. I had two inches to spare!

Zion National Park, UT

Just after taking this picture this seemingly harmless *snowmelt* waterfall got windswept and what seemed to be forever it soaked us just like we jumped in a lake! Needless to say we didn't have a problem with being hot on the way back..
